The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (Oxford DNB) is the national record of people who have shaped British history and culture, worldwide, from the Romans to the 21st century.
The Dictionary offers concise, up-to-date biographies written by named, specialist authors.
It includes biographies of more than 60,000 people who died in or before the year 2016, plus 536 ‘Theme’ articles for reference and research.
Licence information
Authorised users are not permitted to incorporate the images within the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography in printed or electronic form in assignments, portfolios, theses or dissertations.
