Study spaces
Reserve a spot in advance to focus, study, collaborate and get the most out of your university work, whatever your requirements.

Group learning rooms Group learning rooms are available to book on every floor, with or without computers.
When you book a room you will receive a confirmation email with a link and code that will allow you to check into the room when you arrive. You can also use the QR code in the room.
Silent study Silent study spaces in the Library include the Reading Room on the 1st floor (including the Mezzanine) and the Postgraduate Research Lounge on the 2nd floor
Silent study areas are dedicated to individual, quiet work, so please avoid talking, playing audio aloud, or taking calls. To maintain a calm environment, only bottled water is allowed.
Quiet study Quiet study spaces can be found on the 2nd to 6th floor
Quiet study spaces support low-volume conversation and group work, with some background noise expected, and they allow cold drinks as well as hot drinks in sealed cups or flasks.
Social study Social study spaces can be found on the 1st floor and 7th observatory
Social study spaces allow open conversation. The 7th-floor Observatory can be used for work or relaxation and includes bookable equipment for events. Hot and cold drinks in sealed cups or flasks are permitted.
Family Room The Family Room is on the ground floor of the Library and is open during library-staffed hours.
The Family Room offers two bookable study spaces for parents working with children, providing a playmat and children’s books; it’s a shared space that requires children to be supervised at all times.
Using I.T. in the Library
Whilst at the library you can login to a desktop computer, use the scan/printer, access the University Wi-Fi (eduroam) or borrow a laptop.
There are two short-term laptop loan lockers on the first floor of the library.
You can borrow a laptop for 8 hours for use on campus, connected to the Eduroam Wi-Fi. You will need your student card to borrow a laptop.
